Historic Wilmington Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Gala is a tribute to everyone who has shaped our story and everyone who is helping us write the next chapter. By preserving the diverse history of Wilmington’s past, we lay the foundation for a more inclusive, vibrant future for us all.

History & Significance
Long before it was the City Club, this grand property was the deRosset House. When original construction began in 1841, the deRosset family designed its soaring architecture with a guiding purpose: to entertain and bring the community together.
But history isn’t always kind. By the mid-20th century, the home had fallen into severe disrepair, teetering on the edge of collapse. In 1975, Historic Wilmington Foundation stepped in. It took 15 years of slow, steady, and meticulous restoration to breathe life back into these walls. The deRosset House became one of our flagship projects and served as our proud headquarters for 22 years.
Gathering at the City Club for our 60th Anniversary Gala isn’t just about enjoying a beautiful venue; it is a celebration of the very grit, passion, and preservation that defines HWF. We are returning to the house we inhabited for so long, to toast to the next 60 years.
