Port City Architecture Online
Port City Architecture Online documents the historic architecture in and around Wilmington, North Carolina. Included in the online database are many buildings that have historic plaques awarded by the Historic Wilmington Foundation. Working with HWF, the New Hanover County Public Library created Port City Architecture in 2004. The original collection can be viewed in the library’s North Carolina Room.

Downtown Plaque Map
We invite you to explore this interactive map created by staff of the North Carolina Room in the New Hanover County library. The map includes many structures for which HWF has approved historic plaques in New Hanover County, Brunswick County and Pender County.
The map is helpfully color coded for easy identification: structures built in the 1700s are yellow; the 1800s are green; the 1900s are blue.
